Free DJ software

I was recently asked to play music at a family function and happened to stumble upon a great free software to help make the job much easier. I had considered using an iPod at first but then I considered how much of hassle that would be if someone wanted to request a specific song. No…it definitely had to be my computer. I’m running Windows and while Windows Media Player is a pretty capable software that allows you to set up your playlists, change song order and more, cueing up requests can get a little tricky.

So I went on a Google quest to find something a little more robust. I’d used Raduga and Traktor in the past, both of which are excellent but a bit expensive for occasional DJ gigs. That’s when I discovered MIXXX. It has a long list of features I needn’t get into here. Suffice it to say that with a dual mixing deck with fader, auto DJ and being extremely easy to use, MIXXX saved the day. And it’s free!

I encourage you to check it out for yourself:
